JEE Main 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Students must check the eligibility criteria for the JEE Main 2027 registration before filling it out.

The qualifying examination years mentioned for JEE Main 2027 are generally for those candidates who have passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026 or are appearing for Class 12 in 2027. Students should still read the official bulletin for complete conditions.

Preparation tip: Check your eligibility early instead of waiting until counselling begins. Review the latest rules on the official JEE Main website .

The examination fee varies according to the candidate’s category, gender, examination paper and examination centre location.

For a single paper with an examination centre in India, the reported application fees are as follows.

Important: Do not rely on old screenshots or previous-year fee tables because examination rules and fees can change. Check the latest notice on the official JEE Main website before submitting your application.

Documents Required for JEE Main 2027 Registration

Having your documents all ready in advance makes the application process a lot easier. Keep the following items ready as applicable:

  • Aadhaar or another identity verification method accepted by NTA.
  • Active mobile number and email address.
  • Class 10 certificate or marksheet.
  • Class 12 marksheet, admit card or examination details, as required.
  • Recent photograph and signature.
  • Category certificate or relevant certificate details, where applicable.
  • PwD or UDID certificate, where applicable.
  • Online payment method for the examination fee.

NTA has mentioned the file format and size to upload the documents. The published guidance includes a photo of 10 KB to 200 KB, a signature of 10 KB to 100 KB and certain certificates in PDF format in the specified size range.

Always check the specifications in the current bulletin before uploading. Do not resize or modify official certificates in any way that makes the information unreadable.

Session 1 vs Session 2: Which Is Better for You?

Students often wonder whether they should appear for only one session or both. The answer depends on your preparation and examination strategy.

Comparison Factor Session 1 Session 2
Examination period January 2027 April 2027
Main benefit Earlier opportunity to assess performance Another opportunity to demonstrate preparation
Preparation focus Syllabus completion, revision and mock tests Review mistakes and strengthen weaker topics
Best approach Enter with a realistic preparation plan Use additional preparation time productively
Session 1: Appearing in January can help you assess your performance under exam conditions if you are adequately prepared.
Session 2: The April session provides another opportunity to demonstrate your preparation and improve your performance.

Preparation tip: If you plan to take both sessions, check the official application rules, applicable fees and result-calculation criteria. Choose your preparation strategy according to your readiness, revision needs and mock-test performance. Check the latest updates on the official JEE Main website .

Common Mistakes to Avoid During Registration

Even well-prepared students can make mistakes when they rush through an application form.

Here are some practical points to remember:

  1. Incorrect personal details: Check your name and date of birth carefully.
  2. Wrong category selection: Choose the appropriate category and follow the certificate requirements.
  3. Poor-quality uploads: Make sure photographs and signatures meet the required specifications.
  4. Incomplete payment: Confirm that the transaction was successful.
  5. Last-minute submission: Apply early to leave time for resolving technical problems.
  6. Ignoring official notices: Check NTA announcements instead of relying only on social media.
  7. Not saving the confirmation page: Download it after successful submission.

If NTA do provide an application correction window then please read the instructions to see what you can amend. Don’t assume you can change every field later on.

What to Do After Completing Registration

After completing off your application, your next priority is preparing for the exam.

Get the latest syllabus download and break it down into bite size topics. Solve the previous year questions to know the type of questions. Take mock tests regularly and analyze your mistakes instead of just looking at the scores.

For Paper 1 focus on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If you are preparing for architecture or planning, please check the syllabus and requirements of the relevant paper on its own.
